Dog Training

Dog Training and Dog "problems"

With our human "modernization" - there seems to be lesser times and needed interactions with our dogs. AS human beings, we have the tendency to make ourselves more comfortable and to a degree less self-disciplined,  as all our "survival" needs are satisfied. "Comfort" becomes our main goal.

We have also taken the jobs and duties away from our specifically bred-to-work dogs, and turned them into loved pets to enjoy the feeling of "giving Love".  By conducting these changes of "love" and reducing our sense for self-discipline and avoiding work that has to be put into raising a puppy and living with a dog, for the sake of satisfying OUR needs we have often unintentionally neglected the DOG's NEEDS. Suddenly we are confused - why our dogs - that we love so much - still become frustrated and aggressive.

Most dog owners with dog behavioural "problems"  define their Love to their dog in a form of providing their dog with material goods (clothing, bedding etc) which is a PROJECTION of our needs.

AS owners we DO provide - but proportionally the increasing number of dog owners do what is important to THEM  and not necessarily for their dog.
  • These dog owners (with behavioural problems dogs) : provide cuddles, good care including food and what they call "Love", touch, kisses etc while in fact they are satisfying their own needs.
  • These dogs need more: WALKS, JOBS and tasks, games and interactions with other humans and other dogs, while being GUIDED by their provider - owner and they are less interested in the daily display of love.

Having being with humans around 120.000 years as domesticated animals - dogs are flooded with different needs of the modern human being in only the last 50 years. The main meaning to their lives is survival and active interaction with the human in achieving that. As much as it sounds disappointing - this is most important for your dog - and it may not be a "cuddly" activity at all: in fact cuddles should be a very small proportion of daily activities with your dog - simply as it has been for all these thousands of years. Good food is the physical basis for good mental resilience and vitality. Basic shelter is too.

Affection is a reward at the end of hard work - same as we enjoy it: give your dog the respect of his intelligence to do the same.

The Deprivation of daily Interactions and Guidance - is the cause of most Dog behavioural Problems and it is obvious that since humans dictate and control this deprivation  - they certainly ARE responsible for dog behavioural problems.

Responsibility is the key word and we are the only species on this planet that can carry it!

The lack of effort, education and above mentioned - responsibility of humans - is the cause of all dog behavioural perceptions and problems. As simple as that.

I am not a trainer myself - never have been (unfortunately wrongly presented as such in the "Last Chance Dogs") and nor do I promote any type of training. If the dog's needs are met and allowed to develop through balanced guidance - the outcome will be a dog to be proud of and a dog to inspire us humans: My dogs were all like that - regardless of the breed they were - and I am aware that the result was my time and work and lessons I have put into place and the dog's trust in the species he's decided to survive along .
